Marwell Zoo

KidRated’s Marwell Zoo Top Tips:

  • The zoo is all outdoors, so don’t forget sun protection!
  • Leave plenty of time for your visit – there is so much to do
  • Pick up a Marwell coffee flask for unlimited refills around the zoo
  • Check what’s on before you go to plan your day around talks and activities

Help save the wonders of the animal kingdom by visiting Marwell Zoo, home to over 170 endangered species. Discover all kinds of wildlife, from leaf-cutter ants in the Tropical World to the cheetahs of the Savannah Tracks. Check out the different animal coats in the Fur, Feathers and Scales exhibit, which contains an amazing walk-through aviary. With a free road train service, you don’t have to worry about getting tired as you make your way around the zoo.

If you’re a plant-lover, check out the zoo’s Formal Gardens, based on varying garden styles of the 16th and 17th centuries. There are no less than five Adventure Playgrounds where kids can climb ropes and frames, and picnic shelters where you can relax with a spot of lunch. And don’t forget to pick up your Explorers Trail, which will guide you around the site and let you collect stamps!

There are also a range of special events at Marwell throughout the year

Booking Advice:

  • Tickets are cheaper in the winter, but wrap up warm!
  • You can pay at the zoo, but skip the queues if you book online
