In the beautiful Wensum Valley, Pensthorpe is an area of woodland nature trails whose fresh countryside air will have everyone feeling peaceful. Explore the tranquil gardens and meadows and keep an eye out for interesting wildlife.
For a small extra charge during the summer, hop on the Pensthorpe Explorer, an open-sided Land Rover and trailer. A knowledgeable guide will tell you about nature, history and farming as you drive through remote parts of the reserve.
Kids will love WildRootz, a two-acre area of Pensthorpe designed to reconnect youngsters with the magical great outdoors. WildRootz has over 30 pieces of equipment; kids can shoot down ‘The Worm’ slide tower, or whizz off on ‘The Flyway’ zip wire to experience what life is like for our wildlife. Younger children will love the sandpit and wooden huts. Those who prefer the equipment Mother Nature provides can dip their feet in a shallow stream or climb a tree to see the world from up high.
Whether or not the weather is on your side, you can also enjoy Hootz House, a huge indoor play area. There are plenty of adventures waiting for kids of all ages on rope bridges and slides, and soft play equipment for under 5s.
Pensthorpe also has a Stamp Trail, Den Building sessions and interactive Bug Walk especially for families. After your outdoor adventures, retreat into the Courtyard Café to recharge yourself with deliciously heart-warming home-cooked food.
