What age group is this best for?
Ages 6+ for the standard ride. Ages 10+ for the super-speedy “Break the Barrier” thrill fest. It’s a great one for teenagers.
Is it family-friendly?
Yes – but kids under 14 must ride with an adult. Most love it. Some scream the whole way (in a fun way!).
Are there age or height limits?
No hard rules, but younger kids might prefer the gentler tours. For the speedboats, 10+ is best.
Will we get wet?
You might catch a bit of spray. Nothing major – unless it’s proper London weather.
Should we book ahead?
Yes – especially during weekends or holidays.
Where does it leave from?
Usually London Eye Pier or Bankside Pier – check your confirmation email.
What will we see?
Landmarks galore – so take a camera.
Can kids go alone?
Only is they’re over 14 – otherwise they must be with a grown-up.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Depends on the boat. Call ahead if you need specific support.
How long is the ride?
Usually between 50 and 80 minutes depending on the trip.
What should we wear?
Comfortable shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit breezy in.
Oh my god this was so much fun. I’m not usually a very action-y type of person but this was such a laugh. Zooming down the Thames was like nothing I’ve done before. On top of that, the guide was so funny and made sure to point out all the sights. I’d love to do it again with some more friends. Just remember your hair bands if you’ve got some locks on your hear because it gets super windy.
I took my 16 and 13 year old sons on this trip. The 16 year old had very low expectations, however both boys absolutely loved it!
It’s a super fun trip – even more so if your ride coincides with high tide – ours did!
The guide we had was really fun and gave us loads of information about the buildings along the shore when we first set off.
Once we passed the police station on the Thames past Wapping it was full steam ahead. We had a very skilled driver that threw the boat around all over the place. And a brilliant sound track.
All in all a great way to entertain reticent teens.
Do not attempt it if you suffer from sea sickness!!!
