About Chillie Kids Club
If your kids are into fashion, sustainablity, individuality and creativity or simply want the challenge of turning old clothes into something cool then Chillie Kids Club is perfect for them.
Running workshops, holiday clubs, classes and birthday sessions in both dedictaed and pop-up spaces in London, CKC teaches kids and teens how to upcycle old clothes instead of throwing them away. Think customised denim, patched jackets, bags made from old jeans, hand-sewn accessories and one-off pieces whether the emphasis is definitely on the stylish rather than the “crafty”.
Created by fashionistas Natalie Hartley and Lydia McNeill, the CKC mixes sustainability with self-expression. And, the message is simple: relove, rewear and restyle. So kids don’t just earn practical sewing and design skills, they also gain confidence and start seeing fashion differently.
The teen sessions are especially popular because they’re genuinely cool, creative and social giving the vibe of a design studio rather than an after-school club. There are also younger workshops, holiday camps and parties for creative kids who like making things with their hands.
All in all CKC is brilliant for kids who love being creative and for parents keen to get them away from their screens. They are, as one of their slogans says: “Creating clubs AI can’t get into.”
Top tip from the KidRated Team:
Raid the your wardrobe and their bottom drawers before you drop them off as old denim, oversized shirts and hoodies make great upcycling material.
Honestly, this is where Chillie Kids Club really shines. The teen-only workshops feel cool rather than childish, which is half the battle with older kids.
Nope. Beginners are completely welcome and the workshops are guided step-by-step.
Old clothes, denim, jackets, shirts or anything they don’t wear anymore but don’t want to throw away.
Definitely not. Boys and girls both attend, and the customisation side appeals to loads of different styles and personalities.
Generally best for ages 5+ for younger workshops, while the teen sessions are ideal for tweens and teenagers who are into fashion, design or creativity.
Usually around three hours, which is enough time to properly make something rather than rushing through a quick craft activity.
Prices vary depending on the workshop, but many sessions are around £25, which feels pretty reasonable considering kids leave with customised clothes and actual practical skills.
Because it quietly teaches sustainability, creativity and confidence without kids even realising they’re learning something useful. Also: less fast fashion, fewer arguments about buying new clothes every five minutes.
