Start with the Barbican Conservatory, a hidden jungle housing over 2,000 plant species, koi carp and terrapins – ideal for curious explorers aged 5+. Then head inside to check out art galleries, pick a family-friendly film screening, or dive into a free Family Film Club or craft workshop. The cool Brutalist architecture also makes for brilliant photo backdrops.When tummies rumble, kids eat free at the Barbara Kitchen (one free under 10 per adult) and there are plenty of cafés with cakes, salads or pizza to keep everyone happy. Don’t forget the library and children’s programmes, like rhyme time for under-5s and story sessions for older kids.

The conservatory is fab! SO MUCH GREEN!! It's like being in a jungle. Very cool. The outdoor fountain and lake is full of fish. We saw a children's exhibition on how kids play all over the world and it made me realise how lucky we are and how easy it is to make play with something simple.
