About City Cruises
Want to see London without sore feet or bored kids? Hop aboard a City Cruises boat and explore the capital from the comfort of the River Thames. With open-air decks, comfy seats and live commentary packed with fun facts, it’s the ultimate chill way to tick off the big landmarks – from the London Eye and Tower Bridge to Big Ben and the Shard.
You can hop on and off at piers like Westminster, Tower, and Greenwich – perfect if you fancy breaking up the cruise with an ice cream or a museum stop. Boats run regularly, and most are buggy-friendly with accessible seating and loos onboard.
It’s great for all ages, from toddlers who just love being on a boat, to teens who’ll be too busy snapping pics to complain. Oh, and if you fancy levelling up? Try a lunch cruise or an afternoon tea trip!
Top tip from the KidRated team:
Sit upstairs if the sun’s out – the views are incredible, and seagulls make great sightseeing buddies.
Is the cruise covered or open-air?
Both. There’s a lower covered deck with big windows and an open-air upper deck for the best views. Great whatever the weather, or the mood.
How long does a City Cruises trip take?
A one-way trip from Westminster to Greenwich takes around 1 hour. A round trip or hop-on-hop-off adventure can fill a whole afternoon without feeling like a slog.
Can you take a buggy on board?
Yes. Buggies are welcome but may need to be folded during busy times. There’s room to park them on the lower deck if needed.
Are there toilets on the boats?
Yes. All City Cruises boats have toilets on board, and they’re surprisingly decent. Always a relief when you’ve got little ones who need to go with no warning.
Can you bring food and drink on City Cruises?
You can bring small snacks, but most boats also sell drinks and light refreshments on board. Ice creams and views go very well together.
Is City Cruises accessible for wheelchairs?
Yes, most boats are wheelchair accessible, and staff are happy to help. It’s worth checking specific departure points in advance, as some piers have steep ramps or steps at low tide.
Are there special dining cruises for families?
Yes. Try a Lunch Cruise or an Afternoon Tea Cruise – great for kids who love sandwiches & cakes!
