About Copper Box Arena

Tucked inside the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Copper Box Arena is one of London’s most exciting (and underrated) venues for family fun. Nicknamed the “Box That Rocks” during the 2012 Olympics, it now hosts everything from basketball, handball and esports to dance-offs, roller skating and junior martial arts. The best bit? It’s often much more affordable than the big arenas and has a proper community vibe.

Whether you’re cheering on the London Lions, trying out a new sport at one of their kids’ sessions, or popping in for a special event or festival, the Copper Box is a brilliant way to keep active and entertained. There’s step-free access, a café for refuelling, and you’re just a stone’s throw from the rest of the Olympic Park – perfect for picnics, playgrounds and post-match zoomies.

Top tip from the KidRated team:

Keep an eye on their events calendar – there’s always something going on, and tickets often sell out fast. Especially anything with Nerf guns, glow sticks, or mascots.

Can kids take part in activities at the Copper Box Arena?

There are junior sports sessions, school holiday clubs, and taster classes for kids of all ages. It’s a great place to try something new and burn off energy in a cool Olympic venue.

Is the Copper Box Arena good for rainy days?

100% It’s all indoors, so it’s a great go-to when the weather’s doing that classic London drizzle. Plus, it’s spacious and warm – not a soggy sock in sight.

Can you visit the Copper Box Arena without a ticketed event?

Sometimes. If there’s no big match or event on, the venue runs regular fitness sessions and kids’ classes open to the public. Check their website for what’s happening day-to-day.

Is the Copper Box Arena accessible?

Yes, fully. It has step-free access, accessible toilets, seating areas and friendly staff who can help if needed. Whether you’re spectating or taking part, they’ve got you covered.

What should we wear for a visit?

If you’re just watching, anything comfy is fine. If the kids are taking part in a sports session, go for activewear and trainers, and maybe bring water bottles and snacks.

Can you park at the Copper Box Arena?

There’s no on-site parking, but nearby car parks are available in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. That said, public transport is easy and recommended. Stratford and Hackney Wick stations are both nearby.

Is there food and drink available?

During big events, food and drink are available to buy. For everyday sessions, it’s best to bring your own snacks or make a pit stop at one of the nearby cafés in the park or Westfield.

Are there toilets and baby-changing facilities?

Yes. Clean loos, accessible toilets, and baby-changing facilities are all on site. Because let’s face it, someone always needs a wee at the wrong time.

What’s nearby that’s also good for kids?

Tons! You’re in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, so you’ve got the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the Aquatics Centre, Tumbling Bay Playground, Westfield shops, and even canal walks right on your doorstep.
