About SEA LIFE London Aquarium

SEA LIFE London is like stepping into a watery wonderland, right in the middle of the South Bank. From walk-through glass tunnels filled with sharks to hands-on rockpools and rainforest zones with creepy crawlies, it’s packed with wow moments for kids of all ages. Little ones love spotting Nemo, older kids go full Attenborough with the jellyfish and crocodiles, and teens get some solid Instagram content by the glowing tanks. It’s fully indoors, easy to explore with buggies, and perfectly located near a bunch of other big attractions. Book ahead, especially in holidays – it gets busy.

Top tip from the KidRated Team:

Get the earliest time slot you can – it’s calmer, cooler, and the sea creatures are at their most active. Combine it with the Merlin combo tickets (London Eye, Shrek’s Adventure, etc.) to save money and turn it into a full family day out. Oh, and keep your phone ready – the shark tunnel selfie is a rite of passage.

Is SEA LIFE London good for all ages?

Yes – toddlers love the bright tanks and walk-through tunnels, older kids enjoy the hands-on zones and feeding talks, and teens won’t say no to snapping a stingray selfie. Plus it’s a winner with grandparents too.

How long does a visit take?

Around 90 minutes to two hours. Add more time if your kids like reading all the info or joining one of the scheduled talks.

Is it pushchair and wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the whole venue is step-free with lifts between levels and accessible toilets.

Can we bring food or snacks?

You can’t eat inside the aquarium, but there are plenty of riverside spots outside for a picnic or nearby restaurants for a family lunch.

Is SEA LIFE London good for a rainy day?

Perfect. It’s fully indoors, warm, and weatherproof – ideal for school holidays or wet weekends.

Do we need to book in advance?

Yes. SEA LIFE uses timed entry slots and they often sell out, especially during school holidays and weekends. Book online to guarantee entry and save money.

Are there any sensory-friendly options?

Yes – quiet sessions are sometimes available, and the venue is generally calm, with soft lighting and gentle music. Ask staff for help if your child has additional needs.

What’s the best age for SEA LIFE London?

Kids aged 3–12 get the most out of it, but there’s something for everyone. Even grumpy teens end up impressed by the sharks.

Is it included in a Merlin Pass or combo ticket?

Yes, you can bundle it with Shrek’s Adventure, the London Dungeon and the London Eye for a full day of family fun and savings.

What’s nearby to visit afterwards?

London Eye, Jubilee Gardens, Southbank Centre, and Shrek’s Adventure are next door. Head further along the river for the Tate Modern or hop over Westminster Bridge to Big Ben.
