About the Sherlock Holmes Museum
Calling all detectives! The Sherlock Holmes Museum at 221B Baker Street is a brilliant, slightly bonkers step back in time. Packed with Victorian charm, hidden clues, and artefacts from Holmes’ most puzzling “cases,” this quirky townhouse lets families step into the great detective’s world. Expect wax figures (some a little spooky), a replica study, and costumed staff who never break character. It’s a compact space best for older kids, teens and mystery fans – not ideal for toddlers or buggies. The gift shop is top-notch for sleuth souvenirs, and there’s plenty nearby to make a day of it. Perfect for curious families who love stories, dressing up, and a bit of theatrical flair.
Top tip from the KidRated Team:
Let the kids dress the part – a deerstalker hat and toy magnifying glass make it even more fun. Then challenge them to spot three clues Holmes might’ve missed. Great for pics, even better for family bragging rights.
Yes, especially tweens and teens into mysteries, escape rooms, or vintage detectives. It’s immersive, quirky and great fun.
Best for ages 8+. Little ones might not get the references, but older kids will love the clues and creepy wax figures.
Not really, though a couple of the wax figures might make you jump! It’s more atmospheric than frightening.
Yes, if you can, it’s a small space and gets busy during weekends and school holidays.
No, it’s a Victorian townhouse with narrow stairs and no lift, so not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.
Holmes’ recreated study, Victorian furniture, case notes, props, and wax scenes from classic stories.
About 30–45 minutes. It’s compact but packed with things to spot and discuss.
Yes, and it’s brilliant. Think pipes, deerstalkers, books, puzzles and even “poison” bottles. You’ll wat a souvenir.
Absolutely – if they’re okay with stairs and enjoy a good whodunnit, they’ll love it. Bonus points if they’ve read the books.
Madame Tussauds, Regent’s Park, London Zoo, and The Beatles Store are all close. Baker Street Station is just around the corner.
