About Twickenham Stadium Tour

Whether you’re a die-hard rugby fan or just want to impress one Twickenham Stadium is a surprisingly brilliant day out for the whole family. Go behind the scenes on a guided tour, explore the World Rugby Museum, sit in the royal box, and walk through the players’ tunnel like you’re about to face the All Blacks. Match days are electric (and noisy!), but even when the stadium’s quiet, the tour and museum bring the sport to life. Kids love the pitch, grandparents love the stories, and everyone gets a bit emotional at the shirt wall. And yes – there’s a seriously good gift shop for mini kits and rugby balls.

Top tip from the KidRated team:

The guided tour includes access to places you won’t see on match day, like the dressing rooms and press suite. If you’re visiting outside of rugby season, it’s still 100% worth it.

What age is it best for?

Best for kids aged 6+, anyone old enough to enjoy a stadium tour or shout “TRY!” at inappropriate moments. Teens who play sport will love it too. Younger ones might get fidgety unless there’s a ball involved.

What does the tour include?

You’ll see the players’ changing rooms, the tunnel, the royal box, pitch-side views, and get loads of fun behind-the-scenes stories. The guides are great with kids – expect a bit of rugby trivia and a lot of stairs.

Is it better to go on a match day or non-match day?

Match days are buzzing – great for older kids who can handle the noise and crowds. For younger families or first-timers, non-match days are more relaxed and let you do the full tour without the rush.

Do you need to be a rugby fan to enjoy it?

Not at all! The museum is packed with cool objects, great stories, and interactive exhibits that appeal to sporty kids and curious grown-ups. Plus, the stadium’s sheer size impresses everyone.

What are the must-see bits?

The World Rugby Museum (especially the interactive tackle zone), the Royal Box, the player tunnel, and standing pitch-side pretending you’re about to take the winning kick

Is the Twickenham Stadium Tour accessible for buggies and wheelchairs?

Yes. Accessible tours are available, and the museum and gift shop are step-free. Some areas of the tour have limited access, but staff are helpful and accommodating.

Is there a café or somewhere to eat?

Yes, there’s a café near the museum and on-site eateries on match days. Plenty of picnic spots outside the stadium if you bring your own.

Can we take photos on the Twickenham Stadium Tour?

Yes, loads of great selfie spots, especially pitch-side, in the royal box, and under the big Twickenham signage outside. Just no flash in the museum, please.

Is there a gift shop – and is it any good?

Definitely. Packed with England kits, rugby balls, keyrings and fun stuff for all ages. Perfect for little ruggers (and big fans too).

How do we get there?

Closest station is Twickenham, just a short walk away. On match days, trains get busy – plan ahead or arrive early if you’re with kids in tow.
