The Stoop is family friendly with a great atmosphere at games and a friendly crowd. Quins are a top club that play rugby that is fab to watch. Yes - I'm a fan but all this is true!

About Twickenham Stoop

Right across the road from the mighty Twickenham Stadium sits The Stoop – home of Harlequins Rugby Club and one of the most relaxed, family-friendly venues in London sport. It’s smaller, more intimate, and full of charm, ideal if you want to introduce kids to rugby without the full stadium overwhelm. On match days, you’ll find a buzzing family zone with games, face painting, and activities. The crowds are friendly, the vibe is upbeat, and there’s usually plenty of food trucks and entertainment. Whether you’re lifelong Quins fans or just rugby-curious, it’s a brilliant way to spend a Saturday or Sunday together.

Top tip from the KidRated team:

Get there early to enjoy the match-day family zone – it’s free with your ticket and packed with activities to burn off pre-kickoff energy (and sugar).

What age is Twickenham Stoop best for?

Great for all ages, even rugby newbies. Younger kids love the face painting and food trucks, and older ones enjoy the action (and shouting). The size of the stadium makes it easy for little ones to stay engaged.

Do you need to know rugby to enjoy it?

Nope, the atmosphere is fun and friendly, and someone nearby will always explain the rules if you’re stuck. It’s a brilliant intro to live sport for the whole family.

Are there family tickets or child discounts?

Yes, Harlequins often offer family tickets, kids go free deals, or group discounts. It’s one of the more affordable live sports options in London.

What’s in the family zone?

Face painting, games, meet-the-mascot moments, and sometimes player signings. It opens a couple of hours before kick-off – and kids love it.

Is there food that kids will eat?

Definitely. Expect burgers, chips, pizza, sweet treats and hot chocolate. Plus there’s a bar for grown-ups who need a cider and a sit-down.

Can we take photos?

Yes, and you should. Great spots include pitch-side (before the match), with the mascot, or under the Harlequins banners outside the stadium.

Is Twickenham Stoop buggy/wheelchair friendly?

Yes – with accessible seating, wide walkways, and family-friendly loos. Staff are super helpful and used to dealing with kids and grandparents alike.

What if it rains? Is it all outdoors?

Yes, it’s a rugby stadium, so most seating is outdoors. Bring waterproofs and layers. The concourse and family zone have some covered areas.

Can we park onsite?

Parking is limited, especially on match days, but there are local options if you book ahead. Twickenham, Whitton, and Richmond stations are all nearby.
