This weekend is pretty manic! There’s the marathon, St George’s Day and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. So much to do so little time but here at KidRated we’ve picked the very best family activities for you to do.

The giant upside down purple cow is back on the Southbank which means two things: loads of great comedy and that summer is nearly here! Not all the shows are child friendly but check out our Udderbelly page for some great family suggestions. With great street food and drink on offer, it’s also just a great place to hang out on a sunny day.

This Saturday, Trafalgar Square will be filled with kids activities, food stalls and games. This year there’ll be a Shakespeare theme, obviously.

If even the thought of a marathon leaves you feeling exhausted, why not try this 2.5 mile walk instead where you can watch special ten minute films about all of Shakespeare’s plays. The films contain famous faces and you can easily dip in and out if you don’t have 4 hours to spend milling across the south bank!
If you’re not interested in being caught up in crowds and seeing out of breath people in lycra staggering around Central London, then we would advise giving everywhere from Greenwich to Green Park a miss this Sunday. If you have already been to the Bear Hunt interactive exhibition at the Discover Children’s Story Centre, then the next place you must go is the Little Angel Theatre to watch a puppet adaptation of the classic story book.
If you love all things circus, then the Roundhouse in Camden is the place for you to go. There’s a huge selection of great shows. Some shows are already sold out so buy now to avoid disappointment.
Avoid the hustle and bustle of central this weekend by visit the Hampstead Mums Spring Fayre. Entrance is free but the proceeds from the stalls including a raffle will go to the charity Cocoon Family Support
You might have noticed that Spring has well and truly sprung. If your kids love all things flowery, then head to Kew Gardens where the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the ground is carpeted in bluebells making it one of the most beautiful times to visit.
Roald Dahl is one of the top children’s writers ever. And not only is it his centenary this year, but, a movie of the BFG is coming out this summer. At this interactive exhibition, you will be able to learn loads about the world and the life of the prolific author. If you’ve been to the Roald Dahl Museum, you may see some familiar objects.
