Celebrity Best Days Out -Jayne Sharp
Wakefield’s second most famous Jayne (after the legendary Jane McDonald), Jayne Sharp is an actor, presenter and writer with a serious funny bone. Once dubbed “the funniest person on social media” by The Sun, Jayne’s quick wit has taken her from working at Durkar Fisheries to announcing the opening of the London Olympics on BBC Three — quite the glow-up.
When she’s not on screen or cracking people up online, Jayne’s busy juggling life as a mum, actor and all-round good egg. She loves a proper day out — the kind that involves great food, big laughs and, ideally, not too much queuing.

Tell us what you’re up to?
I am doing lots of online comedy sketches – my most popular being my “Perimenopause” character that women of a certain age will DEFINITELY relate to. You can see them all on Instagram @jaynesharp .

What were your favourite three places to visit in London as a kid and why?
Being from the North we rarely ventured to that there London but when we did we usually came to see a West End show. So my favourite things were Les Mis, Starlight Express and Phantom of the Opera.
And another vivid memory was my Dad taking us round Soho – which was a very different place then that it was now…..So maybe let’s not include that.

Where is your favourite place to eat with family?
Kulu Kulu which is a really awesome sushi place on Brewer Street. It’s been there for ever and ever and it’s amazing.

Where in London (or the UK) would you recommend to another family?
Hmmm I think I’d have to say London Zoo…
Where in London or the UK would be your perfect day out with your family?
We moved to Hastings two years ago and we LOVE it – there’s so much to do. In fact we always say “even when there’s nothing to do there’s the sea”. But you don’t need the sea because there’s always something on or something to do. The people of Hastings love a drum which means there’s always a parade and there’s practically a festival on every weekend.
Plus there’s caves, there’s castles, a true crime museum, chips, a beautiful art gallery and The Pier’s for sale if you want to buy it. But we love it – come to Hastings everyone!!
Whenever we’re back in London as a family we love going to Hamleys ‘cos you can spend all day in there. We also love Tulley’s Farm – it’s in Crawley and it’s absolutely amazing. And they always have something seasonal on so they’ve just had their pumpkin patch open and ShocktoberFest. I should warn you that’s for older kids and it’s absolutley terrifying and hilarious – it’s so much fun. Hardcore recommend. They’ll be doing Christmas soon with their lights up everywhere.
And finally Chessingotn World of Adventures – it’s fun for all the family folks.

Bus, tube, taxi, walk or cycle?
Well, I don’t think I’ve been on a bus since they phased out the old Routemasters. Once they disappeared I was so annoyed I don’t think I’ve caught one since. They were the best things EVER. The thrill involved in jumping on or jumping off the back of the bus, for me has never been equalled.Basically you were at the mercy of some driver who decided whether you lived or died – It was great…
So now, it’s got to be a taxi and even at my ripe old age I still get excited about getting into a Black cab because it’s just so cool.

Give us a #londonlifehack
If you’re ever going to London with kids just hammer all the major museums because THEY”RE FREE. Seriously it’s absolutely brilliant. You can spend hours seeing the most brilliant things without spening a penny – we;; obviously you’ll need to go at some point but come on – you know what I mean. Byeeeee.
