Celebrity Best Days Out – Piers Morgan

Love him or loathe him (and yes, we know there’s rarely any middle ground), Piers Morgan is one of Britain’s most recognisable voices – outspoken, opinionated and currently promoting his latest book arguing that “woke is dead”. But strip away the headlines, the debates and the studio lights, and you’ll find a dad who knows London inside out.
Away from TV, Piers has quietly become one of the biggest voices on the planet thanks to his YouTube channel, Piers Morgan Uncensored, which now boasts nearly 4.5 million subscribers. Not bad for a bloke who still loves a London pub, a good restaurant recommendation and a stroll round his local patch.

So what can families expect from Piers’ Best Days Out? Think classic London with substance: parks, walks and food. Oh and obviously a nod to arguably his greatest love – Arsenal FC.
Finally, we’re genuinely chuffed Piers found time in his outrageously busy schedule to share his Best Days Out with KidRated – and we hope his answers can provide a little inspiration to you other parents out there when it comes ideas of what to do with your kids.
What are you up to?
We can answer that for him. Piers Morgan is currently hosting his daily global talk show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, which airs across YouTube and digital platforms and reaches millions of viewers worldwide. Known for big-name interviews, lively debate and absolutely no filter, the show has become one of the most-watched news and opinion programmes on the platform.
Alongside the show, Piers is also promoting his new book, Woke Is Dead, where he argues that the era of “woke culture” has peaked and is now in decline. Written in his trademark outspoken style, the book blends media insight, cultural commentary and sharp opinion – very much Piers, in other words.

What were your favourite places to visit in London as a kid?
Arsenal Stadium – Back then of course Piers would have been cheering on his beloved Gunners at Highbury Stadium. Below is him with his son Spencer at their current home Emirates Stadium.
London Zoo – Where of course Piers would have been able to get much closer to the animals than kids today.
Harrods – Back when Piers was a kid people actually queued round the block for its famous New Year’s sale.

Where is your favourite place to eat with the family?
Piers has two favourite restaurants – Il Portico in Kensington and Cambio de Tercio in Chelsea. Il Portico – an authentic Italian restaurant, run by the same family since the 1960s is close to the Royal Albert Hall and opposite the Design Museum, so great for family days out.

Where in London (or the UK) would you recommend to another family?
London parks are unique and all great…get walking! And if (like me) you like golf, St Andrews in Scotland is amazing. Great courses, great town.
Name three places you love going in London with your kids.
Piers’ top three spots in London are Portobello Market – great for vintage shopping and home to Mr Gruber’s shop from the Paddington Bear movies; Lord’s Cricket Ground for watching his beloved England. He is also a keen cricketer himself. Finally, Kensington Gardens – a stone’s throw from where he lives and always great for families. Check out our guide.
