Berlin Museum
The holiday home rental site HouseTrip commissioned a survey to discover Europe’s best city for families. The cities were assessed on factors such as the number of family-friendly galleries and museums, safety, pollution and crime. And the winner was…Berlin!
Other winners included Stockholm which was judged the greenest city with the lowest pollution and 55% of the city made up of green space.
In the category of most cultural, London was beaten into second place by Paris thanks to its high numbers of galleries, museums and theatres.
Budapest was the cheapest, with the average cost of a meal setting visitors back the wallet-friendly sum of £3.84 at a budget restaurant.
And finally, Valencia had the lowest crime levels followed by Berlin again and Amsterdam.
City breaks, are becoming more popular amongst families as they can offer something for all ages. Parents can take their kids to a gallery or museum and then head to a park, with plenty of local restaurants and theatres to choose from in the evenings.
Cost can be a huge factor when taking kids, so it’s no surprise many families are choosing more cost effective ways to stay abroad. The rise of sites like Airbnb and HouseTrip has made it easy – and cheap – for families to decamp to a whole flat or house in cities across the globe.
