London NYE Fireworks Sell Out

The tickets for London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display have sold out. No longer is turning up at the Thames the failsafe new year’s eve plan as earlier this year it was announced that the fireworks display would be ticketed for the first time ever. Tickets which cost £10 had been on sale since September.

The fireworks display has been staged since 2003 but rising numbers of viewers on the Embankment and South Bank have caused too much strain on the area. Last year half a million people turned up to watch the festivities.

This year a lucky 100,000 people will be able to view the fireworks from the ticketed area which will stretch from Waterloo Bridge to Westminster Bridge on the north side and behind the London Eye. There however will be a chance to see the fireworks from other locations, just don’t expect such a great view. They also will not be screens in Trafalgar Square or Parliament Square.

Luckily the BBC will be filming the whole thing so you can watch it on TV in the comfort of your own home. Which quite frankly is much warmer and means you can look at the undoubtedly amazing display without craning your neck.
