Following on from a recent report about famous Londoners’ favourite hidden gems in the Capital, Boris Johnson is now asking unfamous Londoners for their favourite parts of the city that tourists would otherwise miss.

The top 20 attractions in London currently account for 90% of the total visitors to London, however Boris wants this to change. To do so, an alternative list have been devised of 20 ‘hidden gems’ or attractions off the beaten track in London, particularly places that are a little further out.

The list will appear on the Visit London website. It includes, KidRated favourites such as the Horniman Museum and Gardens and the RAF Museum (pictured above).

The natural history gallery at the Horniman, complete with over stuffed walrus.

The Hackney Empire and Manze’s Pie and Mash Shop are two East London destinations on the list. While the pantomime appeal of the Hackney Empire is sure to translate to visitors, at KidRated we feel tourists might not be so enthused by the native East London cuisine of jellied eels.

The Tumbling Bay Playground at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is one of the most child-friendly on the list.

The full list can be viewed here.

What are your favourite hidden gems in London. Do you love your local park? Is there a small museum that is very dear to your heart? Do you have a special shopping street that you feel the rest of the world needs to know about? Or, is there a view that always makes you think, wow?
